EKATERINBURG Russia The Ekaterinburg Drawing was made during the opening week of THE FIRST URAL INDUSTRIAL BIENNALE OF CONTEMPORARY ART on September 12, 2010, with participation of two young art historians Darya Kostina and Polina Lapteva. Polina Lapteva was driving her metallic grey Toyota RAF4, while Irina Danilova and Darya Kostina were navigating (using GPS on Polina’s i-phone). Trip started at 1:15pm, not far from one of the Biennale’s Special program (curated by Alisa Prudnikova) spaces: Ural Worsted Plant (where among other projects was Irina’s work Wall of Fame and video program Industrial 59) and finished at 4:31 pm at the intersection of Baumana and Shefskaya Streets, not far from another Biennale’s Special program space, one of the biggest industrial complex’s of Ekaterinburg – The Ural Heavy Machine Building Plant (Uralmash or UZTM), passed by at 4:21 pm. As Darya Kostina pointed out, there were 59 projects at the main program of The 1st Ural Industrial Bienniale (curated by Cosmin Costinas, Ekaterina Degot, and David Riff) at Ural Workers Printing Press on Lenin Street (that was passed by at 1:59 pm, while drawing the top of number 5). Fire distinguisher #59 was discovered at the entrance of the project space at Ural Worsted Plant.
