Ingresso White - via Tortona, settembre 2012
Ingresso White – via Tortona, settembre 2012

The Cavalier Mario Boselli, president of the National Chamber of Fashion, during a press conference at Palazzo Marino, in the presence Councillor Culture, Fashion and Design Stefano Boeri, today announced the latest edition of White Milan, the exhibition dedicated to the new language of fashion which will take place in Via Tortona and the Rotonda della Besana 22 to 24 September 2012.

At cultural level Milan, has always been a city where history interacts with present time and the art, very lively, is closely linked to the cultural phenomena that characterize the contemporary situation as design and fashion itself. In addition to being a world leader in the design, it is surely also the capital of the textile-apparel-fashion. In this modern metropolis in central Europe, are located:
– The Federation Italian Fashion System, which helps make the textile and fashion one of the most important economic sectors of Italian industry and
– The Fashion Institute of Milan, a strategic research project for higher education in the field of fashion which is headed by three universities in Milan: the Bocconi University, the Catholic University and the Polytechnic.

The combination of art, fashion and design, is definitely going through a transformation more compelling and unstoppable.
From September 13 to 23 many galleries will extend their opening hours on weekends during the festival dedicated to the contemporary art StartMilano.
Italian in business, which is characterized by sophistication, elegance and sensitivity towards innovation, Fashion & Design remain the pillars of Made in Italy, of the collective phantasy, and are fundamental parts of Milan and its identity.
The city of Milan is in fact the guest of honor in 2012 Beijing Design Week, which will be held in Beijing from September 26 to October 6, 2012.

The main programs of economic and cultural development in preparation in Milan for the Expo 2015, have not only the purpose of intensifying international relations with European nations, but are increasingly projected towards the attractive markets outside the EU, with strong growth, particularly in the Chinese market.

A large and prestigious container for the new languages of fashion, but also a breeding ground for the development of contemporary international companies.

White Milan, the exhibition at via Tortona 27 and 54 reaffirms its leadership on the fashion scene, focusing its research on the most interesting styles from all over the world, bringing in the fashion capital 360 clothing and accessories womenswear collections, on a total area of 16 thousand square meters. 238 Italian brands and 115 foreign ones selected through criteria established by the codes that have imposed the image and content of international fashion-trade among top retailers: creativity, innovation, but also the culture of tradition and art of making.

The visitors expected in the September 2012 edition are 16 thousand, with an influx of international buyers coming largely from Far East and rewarding, through their presence, the work done by White in the major Asian markets, especially China.

As usual, besides the effective exhibition area, White has organized two events – under the patronage of the City of Milan – that enrich the already rich carnet of happenings written by White in the Milanese historical locations. The most important event scheduled for Friday, September 21st at 20.30, and taking place in the eighteenth-century Rotonda della Besana, is the presentation of the spring / summer 2013 collection by Stella Jean. The Italo-Haitian designer won the fashion system with collections evoking the two cultures of her homeland: the old and sentimental one and the modern one, projected to the new. The two opposites come together in an ironic, colorful mosaic that shapes a new femininity.

Next, on the evening of Saturday, September 22nd at 20.30, still at the Rotonda della Besana, the event by Uma Wang, who once again has chosen White Milan as the exceptional stage to unveil a new season of success. The chinese designer, already guest designer last February at the Royal Palace, has captured the attention of the international press and of top multibrand stores with her avant-garde creations mixing different materials, finished with high couture criteria.

Both events will involve a jazz duo of international prestige: the pianist Umberto Petrin and singer Carola Caruso.

Strategic for the projects of development of the Milanese show the area Talents for White, that hosted last February even Stella Jean, a cradle for young designers selected by the team of The White Club.

Guests of the section representing the showpiece of the association, Angeline Lee, the British designer who is inspired by the works of the sculptor Constantin Brancusi; Augustin Teboul, the brand of the German Annelie Augustin and the French Odély Teboul that have created a collection with strong déco accents: Caterina Gatta, the eclectic Roman designer with her fluo prints; Francesco Ballestrazzi, the visionary creator of decorated hats with gaudy parrots and majestic butterflies; Martina Spetlova, the Slovak designer who uses strings as if they were woolen threads, Shengwei Wang, Chinese transplanted to London, who is inspired by the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo; Steve J & Yoni P, the Korean brand that has made the search for functional futurism its stylistic feature; Steven Tai the intellectual Canadian nerd-designer who has created a collection with piles of fabric bound like a book and the Korean Suzanne Susceptible with garments mentioning the Italian tailoring and intriguing art oriented elements.

In the fashion trade area the special projects of the September edition with ad hoc fittings in impact spaces will be signed Care Label, with its famous haut de gamme jeans;  Cat’s by Tsumori Chisato that after last June’s success proposes once again at White its nice-price project;  Collection Privée?, with the capsule of bags carved as Wien straw; Faliero Sarti overlooking the the show from the top of his majestic craftsmanship, and Roberto del Carlo who will reveal at White his newborn rubber-project.

Great expectations for the brands debuting at the exhibition of Via Tortona, such as the Ukrainian Elena Burenina with her algebraic formulas added to blouses; Eugenio Vazzano, the Sicilian artisan of patches and of hand-made color who launches the Ortigia Sunset capsule collection; The Loser Project, with its exclusive pieces, handmade and high quality inspired by the aesthetics of the German Bauhaus school; Très Chic S.A.R.T.O.R.I.A.L. using brocades and silks of the ecclesial tradition for ultra-feminine tailored trousers; Numerozeta, with floating silk dresses with geometric lines, Ricostru, designed by Chinese designer Manchit Au and devoted to Shell, the goddess of the sea, that swims among prints of an abstract ocean.

This year’s White September edition also marks the important comeback of brands that are very appreciated by international buyers like the great Jean-Michel Cazabat, author of a footwear collection with a strong contemporary appeal, dMajuscule, the collection designed by the Serbian designer Davor Mutic that has changed to exquisitely feminine accents, modulated on “dummy style” garments, using skilled techniques for the development of origami and the Slovenian Lara Bohinc, with her new jewelry that assemble, into a set of great impact, the roughness of the metal to the grace of the South Seas pearls.

Among the confirmations of the show many hot contemporary international fashion brands, such as Norwegian Rain launching at White its first women’s collection of sartorial-hi-tech jackets; Eleonoraniccolai, winner of Inside White 2011; ELISANERO, a prestigious presence on the international avantgarde scene, Goti, with its best-sellers made in malleable metal, Hache, the collection designed by Manuela Arcari that is back in via Tortona 27 after the NY fashion shows; Masnada created by Cristina Galanti with exclusive designs and colors inspired by nature and Muehlbauer with its straw hats in shocking colors.

It grows numerically (there are 29 exhibitors in September) and is more and more emerging in terms of stylistic imprint Inside White, the section dedicated to fashion companies facing the market for the first time. Twenty-nine are the brands that will pass the scrutiny of a well known fashion designer, and the most voted will be guest at the next edition of the show with an individual space. Among the most awaited brands the British Alexander Smith London who has created a line of shoes with nuance and details in copper and the Italian Cherie’s Flakes with beachwear proposals weaving jewelry and blades of grass.

Melancholy, dusk, romantic
Between the folds of a memory which perhaps is a dream.
Uma Wang designs a collection fascinated by a withered white rose. Beautiful when she lived by a pale light, distressing time with yellow velvet petals.
Forty outfits reminiscent divided into two tranches of color: black, sexy and austere, minimalist and bold; beige, “rice”, as the  Chinese designer calls it, available in three shades which faithfully reproduce the withered petals of a délabré queen.
Covering her body with oversized clothes, taken on the sides or in the calves by intriguing drawstring.
The pants are made of linen and stretch cotton as a second – skin model to be combined with unstructured jackets, version sarouel, instead, opt for silk washed and treated to become an element that adds fluidity and precision.
Between the rice and the black tank tops, little dresses of silk obtained shoring up the porous surface with special needles, sprouting backward flowers, a fantasy chosen by Uma Wang for the personal withered garden.
“It’s the time that passes, a fascinating series because inevitable, the life that flows in an intriguing memory”.

UMA WANG – Primavera-estate 2013
Melanconia, crepuscolare, romantica
