Joseph Beuys – Defence of Nature an exhibition at the Kunsthaus in Zurich

Beuys Voice by Lucrezia De Domizio Durini is a forthcoming volume to be published by the Kunsthaus Zürich and Mondadori Electa in three distinct editions: Italian, German and English. The book will be about 1,000 pages long, and it will include 400 photographic images taken from the De Domizio Durini historical archive, as well as the writings of a number of international figures from the world of culture; together they will underscore the importance of Beuysian Living Sculpture, that is, the relationship between men of different races, origins, religions, and social, economic, political and cultural levels, all joined by a unified and free collaboration.

The volume is a story told by Beuys personally, a story which alternates the events and documents, testimonies and human relations of all those who directly experienced and shared this artist’s poetics, in which Life and Art live together in symbiosis.

Beuys’s vision is expanded by Art, by a total Art that by touching upon all the disciplines that concern mankind is addressed to improve society with a pedagogical intent. The volume also takes into consideration the Post-Beuys phase, that is, the work carried out to disseminate the Master’s thought by scholars and artists who were his contemporaries. The project essentially seeks to be a total and analytical work concerning the thought and the oeuvre of Joseph Beuys, both the man and the artist.

From May 13 to August 14, 2011 at the Kunsthaus Zürich an exhibition entitled Joseph Beuys – Defence of Nature will be held for the first time; the curators of the event are Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, one of the leading scholars of Beuysian thought, and the art historian Tobia Bezzola.

The project starts from the majestic work Olivestone, donated by De Domizio Durini to the Kunsthaus in 1992, and then focuses—by way of De Domizio’s entire private collection of works—on the operation known as Defence of Nature, a project that the German Master carried out in Italy in the last 15 years of his life thanks to the solid collaboration of Lucrezia De Domizio and the photographic lens of her husband Buby Durini. The Defence of Nature project first took place in the early 1970s when Joseph Beuys began to cultivate a fifteen-hectare plot of land in Bolognano (Abruzzo), destined to the planting of 7,000 bushes and trees that risked extinction: the result was the Piantagione Paradise, or Paradise Plantation. On May 13, 1984, Beuys plants the first Italian oak in the Plantation, right in front of his studio: it is the beginning of the discussion “Defence of Nature,” the veritable emblem of this ambitious Abruzzese project. The Defence of Nature should be understood not just in an ecological sense; actually and more importantly it should be read in terms of its anthropological meaning: defence of man, creativity and human values, topics, more than ever before, of great interest today. The book Beuys Voice will accompany and integrate the exhibition.

May 12, 2011 is the 90^th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Beuys (1921- 1986). The Kunsthaus Zürich will pay tribute to the German Master with a major international event, which will also be part of the exhibition.

Joseph Beuys – Difesa della Natura eine Ausstellung im Kunsthaus Zürich

Die Publikation des Buches Beuys Voice von Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, herausgegeben vom Kunsthaus Zürich und Mondadori Electa, wird in drei separaten Ausgaben erscheinen: Italienisch, Deutsch und Englisch. Ein Buch mit ca. 1000 Seiten und 400 fotografischen Abbildungen aus dem historischen Archiv De Domizio Durini, das u.a. mit Aufsätzen verschiedener Exponenten der internationalen Kulturszenen die Bedeutung der Living Sculpture von Joseph Beuys hervorheben möchte, die aus der Beziehung zwischen Menschen unterschiedlicher Nation, Herkunft, Religion, sozialen, ökonomischen, politischen und kulturellen Status erwächst, die eine solidarische und freie Kooperation verbindet.

Das Buch ist eine von Beuys selbst erzählte Geschichte, ein Wechselspiel von Ereignissen und Dokumenten, Zeugnissen und menschlichen Beziehungen derer, die die Poetik des Künstlers, in der Leben und Kunst eine Symbiose bilden, selbst gelebt und geteilt haben.

Die Beuys’sche ist eine erweiterte Vision der Kunst, einer totalen Kunst, die sich mit pädagogischer Absicht einer Verbesserung der Gesellschaft zuwendet und dabei all jene Bereiche berührt, die den Menschen betreffen. Das Buch nimmt auch auf das Post-Beuys Bezug, jene Aktivität der Promulgation des Leitgedankens des Meisters, die von seinen Zeitzeugen, Gelehrten wie Künstlern, betrieben wird. Das Projekt hat grundsätzlich das Bestreben, ein allumfassendes und analytisches Werk des Leitgedankens, des Werkes, des Menschen und des Künstlers Joseph Beuys zu sein.

Am 13. Mai 2011 (bis zum 14. August) öffnet das Kunsthaus Zürich der erstmaligen und von Lucrezia Di Domizio Durini (die zu den größten Experten des Beuys’schen Leitgedankens zählt) und dem Kunsthistoriker Tobia Bezzola kuratierten Ausstellung mit dem Titel Joseph Beuys – Difesa della Natura seine Pforten.

Das Projekt nimmt das majestätische Werk Olivestone, das dem Kunsthaus Zürich 1992 von Lucrezia De Domizio Durini übergeben wurde, zum Anlass, um anhand ihrer gesamten Privatsammlung die Aktion Difesa della Natura zurückzuverfolgen, die der deutsche Meister während der letzten 15 Jahre seines Lebens in Italien vollbracht hat, unterstützt von der solidarischen Kooperation Lucrezia De Domizio Durinis und dem Objektiv ihres Gatten Buby Durini. Das Projekt Difesa della Natura wird Anfang der 1970er Jahre ins Leben gerufen, als Joseph Beuys beginnt, ein 15 Hektar großes Gelände bei Bolognano in den Abruzzen zu bewirtschaften, das der Bepflanzung mit 7000 vom Aussterben bedrohten Sträuchern und Bäumen gewidmet ist und die Piantagione Paradise ins Leben ruft. Am 13. Mai 1984 pflanzt Beuys seinem Atelier gegenüber die erste italienische Eiche der Plantage und ruft die Diskussion „Difesa della Natura“ ins Leben, als Symbol des gesamten abruzzesischen Projekts. Difesa della Natura (Schutz der Natur) darf nicht nur in ökologischem Sinne verstanden werden, sondern muss vor allem unter anthropologischem Gesichtspunkt gelesen werden: Schutz des Menschen, der Kreativität und der menschlichen Werte, heute mehr denn je aktuelle Thematiken. Das Buch Beuys Voice ist integraler Bestandteil dieser Ausstellung.

Am 12. Mai 2011 wäre der 90. Geburtstag von Joseph Beuys (1921–86). Das Kunsthaus Zürich ehrt den deutschen Meister mit einer bedeutenden internationalen Veranstaltung, integraler Bestandteil der Ausstellung.

Joseph Beuys – Difesa della Natura una mostra alla Kunsthaus di Zurigo

È in fase di pubblicazione Beuys Voice di Lucrezia De Domizio Durini edito dalla Kunsthaus di Zurigo e da Mondadori Electa, in 3 distinte edizioni: italiano, tedesco, inglese. Un libro di circa 1000 pagine e 400 immagini fotografiche tratte dall’archivio storico De Domizio Durini che, anche attraverso gli scritti di vari personaggi della cultura internazionale, intende sottolineare l’importanza della Living Sculpture beuysiana, costituita dal rapporto tra uomini di differenti razze, origini, religioni, di diversi stati sociali, economici, politici e culturali, legati da una solidale e libera collaborazione.

Il volume è una storia raccontata da Beuys stesso in cui si alternano avvenimenti e documenti, testimonianze e rapporti umani di personaggi che in prima persona hanno vissuto e condiviso la poetica dell’artista in cui Vita e Arte vivono in simbiosi.

Quella di Beuys è una visione ampliata dell’Arte, di un’Arte totale che toccando tutte le discipline che riguardano l’uomo si rivolge al miglioramento della società con intento pedagogico. Il volume prende in considerazione anche il Post Beuys, l’attività di divulgazione del pensiero del Maestro messa in atto da studiosi e artisti suoi contemporanei. Il progetto, in sostanza, ha l’ambizione di essere un’opera totale e analitica del pensiero, dell’opera, dell’uomo e dell’artista Joseph Beuys.

Il 13 maggio al 14 agosto 2011 alla Kunsthaus di Zurigo verrà inaugurata un’inedita Mostra dal titolo: Joseph Beuys – Difesa della Natura curata da Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, tra i maggiori studiosi del pensiero beuysiano, e da Tobia Bezzola, storico dell’arte.

Il progetto prende spunto dalla regale opera Olivestone, donata dalla De Domizio Durini alla Kunsthaus nel 1992, per percorrere, attraverso l’intera sua collezione privata, l’operazione Difesa della Natura che il Maestro tedesco ha svolto in Italia negli ultimi 15 anni della sua vita con la solidale collaborazione di Lucrezia De Domizio e dell’obiettivo fotografico di suo marito Buby Durini. Il progetto Difesa della Natura prende vita all’inizio degli anni Settanta quando Joseph Beuys comincia la coltivazione di un terreno di quindici ettari a Bolognano, in Abruzzo, destinato alla piantagione di 7000 arbusti e alberi in via di estinzione, dando vita alla Piantagione Paradise. Il 13 maggio del 1984, Beuys mette a dimora la prima quercia italiana nella Piantagione, di fronte al suo studio, e dà luogo alla discussione “Difesa della Natura”, emblema di tutto l’ambizioso progetto abruzzese. La Difesa della Natura va intesa non solo in senso ecologico, ma principalmente va letta nell’aspetto antropologico: difesa dell’uomo, della creatività e dei valori umani, temi oggi più che mai attuali. Il volume Beuys Voice è parte integrante della mostra.

Il 12 maggio 2011 ricorre il 90° anniversario della nascita di Joseph Beuys (1921- 1986). La Kunsthaus di Zurigo rende Omaggio al Maestro tedesco con un importante evento internazionale, parte integrante della Mostra.

Le livre intitulé Beuys Voice de Lucrezia De Domizio Durini edité par la Kunsthaus de Zurich et par Mondadori Electa, en 3 éditions séparées, italienne, allemande et anglaise, est en cours de publication. Il s’agit d’un ouvrage d’environ mille pages et 400 documents photographiques provenant des archives historiques De Domizio Durini qui entend souligner, grâce aussi à des écrits de différentes personnalités de la culture internationale, l’importance de la Living Sculpture de Joseph Beuys, constituée du rapport entre hommes de races, origines, religions, conditions sociales, politiques, économiques et culturelles différentes, liés entre eux par une collaboration libre et solidaire.

Le volume contient une histoire racontée par Beuys en personne, où se succèdent événements et documents, témoignages et rapports humains de personnes qui vécurent directement et partagèrent la poétique de l’artiste, faite d’une symbiose entre la Vie et l’Art.

La vision artistique de Beuys est une vision élargie, d’un Art total qui recherche le progrès de la société avec une intention pédagogique et embrasse l’ensemble des disciplines humanistes. L’ouvrage examine aussi le Post Beuys, l’activité de divulgation de la pensée du Maître effectuée par les critiques et les artistes qui furent ses contemporains. Le projet, en somme, a l’ambition d’être une œuvre totale et analytique de la pensée, de l’œuvre, de l’homme et de l’artiste Joseph Beuys.

Du 13 mai au 14 août 2011 aura lieu à la Kunsthaus de Zurich une exposition inédite intitulée: Joseph Beuys – Défense de la Nature réalisée par Lucrezia De Domizio Durini, qui compte parmi les plus grands spécialistes de la pensée de Beuys, et par Tobia Bezzola, un historien d’art.

Le projet part de l’œuvre royale Olivestone, donnée par Lucrezia De Domizio Durini à la Kunsthaus en 1992, pour parcourir, à travers toute sa collection privée, l’opération Défense de la Nature que le Maître allemand a déployée en Italie au cours des quinze dernières années de sa vie avec la collaboration de Lucrezia De Domizio et de l’objectif photographique de son mari Buby Durini. Le projet Défense de la Nature naît au début des années Soixante-dix lorsque Joseph Beuys commence la mise en culture d’un terrain de quinze hectares à Bolognano, dans les Abruzzes, destiné à l’implantation de 7000 arbustes et arbres en vois d’extinction, donnant ainsi naissance à la Plantation Paradise. Le 13 mai 1984, Beuys plante le premier chêne italien dans sa Plantation, en face de son atelier, et ouvre la discussion “Défense de la Nature”, emblème de tout son ambitieux projet des Abruzzes. La Défense de la Nature ne doit pas seulement être comprise dans son sens écologique, mais il faut surtout la lire sous son aspect anthropologique, celui de la défense de l’homme, de la créativité et des valeurs humaines, des thèmes plus actuels que jamais. L’ouvrage Beuys Voice fait partie intégrante de l’exposition.

Le 12 mai 2011 marquera le 90ème anniversaire de la naissance de Joseph Beuys (1921- 1986). La Kunsthaus de Zurich rend hommage au Maître allemand en organisant un important événement international, partie intégrante de l’Exposition.
